Moroccan Hotel
This was truly one of the most exciting projects we have ever undertaken. The client had a very clear idea of what they
wanted right from the start. They wanted a hotel that would be entirely Moroccan, something that would
capture the rich history of Malaga and translate that connection through the building's interior.
We spent time studying Moroccan traditional architecture and design so that we could learn how to put that kind of sense
into the project. At first, we suggested that an open floor plan should be done and using arched bead doors for the rooms to
give it a truer appearance.
But since it is a hotel, the client did not want the rooms to be visible to everyone, which we completely understood.
For the common areas, we had a bit more freedom to be creative. We opened up the area with large arches and used the use of mosaic tiles to add to the design. All of those small details counted. From the tiles to the furniture, everything had to have the look and feel of Morocco, so we handpicked and created each one to fit the vision.
The pool deck was another of our favourites. We created it to resemble a traditional Moroccan patio, featuring patterned tile work,
custom metalwork, and low cushioned seating that gives the whole area a relaxed and welcoming feel. The idea was
to pay tribute to Malaga's cultural history and move forward with that history in a warm and lived-in manner.
Ultimately, the hotel is rich in character and history. We are proud of the way it has come together, and so is the client.
